365/365. wow.
Today was a day of epic aspirations. This picture was going to be the best of the best, and it was going to involve a lot of contraptions since most of my equipment is in ny. However, this afternoon proved to be much more frustrating, and quite a failure. So I tried in the end to just do something fun. I mean… I’M DONE!
This project has been one of the harder things I’ve ever done. I’m not sure how I managed to do it while remaining so busy and especially while this past semester was so hard. Well… I managed to do it by taking crappy pictures on certain days instead of just giving up, which I thought of doing many times. However I am quite stubborn, and so I made myself finish. The past 1-2 months have been the most difficult I think, just because I think I had given up in spirit. I was so over this thing. But despite all that, I’m honestly going to miss that little bit of stress every single day, and the occasional rush to do something at 11:00 pm. And I am certainly going to miss having an excuse to make people do strange things. It’s going to be super weird not having this in my life. Perhaps only distance will actually allow me to evaluate how much it helped me grow as a photographer, but I do know that on the days when I was really excited and felt proud of my work, it was more than I had ever before in the past, so there’s that. I also got the chance to stage pictures, which I hadn’t really ever done before. I definitely want to do this again someday, but when I actually have solid skills and potentially with a twist on the challenge.
I’d like to thank everyone that cooperated with my craziness and allowed me to awkwardly point my camera in their faces and make them do ridiculous things. In particular, I would like to thank my roommates for their support and participation. I don’t think I could’ve done it without them. I’d like to thank Qtown for going on the occasional excursion with me, and going on adventures with me so I could find something different. And I’d like to thank Robmey for being maybe my biggest fan that doesn’t live with me. Shout out to C-Lab, in NYC for providing me with great prints and excellent conversation. I also would like to thank the strangers following me out there on tumblr and the random (sometimes super strange) sites that reblogged my pictures.
I would not like to thank the generic pharmacies that made my life more difficult, school for taking up all of my time, the cold for making me want to stay in 24/7, and the universe for only putting 24 hours in a day.
It’s been a really long and great year. Thanks guys! :)
